In September 2023, the upper primary school phase at Colina Learning Center will broadly translate to children aged from 8 to 11 years old (grades 3 to 5). Learning Designers are responsible for developing, designing and implementing learning experiences in line with the requirements of the CLC Learning Model and Curriculum.
Your knowledge & qualifications:
You are, first of all, a life-time learner yourself. You are curious and love to better develop your understanding of the world and how you interact in it.
Proven experience as a Primary Teacher.
Advanced English knowledge
You have experience with at least one international curriculum (British-style, American-style, Montessori, etc.).
Ideally, you are familiar with innovative pedagogies (project-based learning, agile learning, self-directed learning).
Your love of children fuels your love of teaching. You understand that relationships come first, learning follows. You know how to develop positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues.
You communicate beautifully. You listen a lot. Talk succinctly. Write compellingly.
Your job:
Leading and preparing daily crew-meets with the children that create opportunities for sharing and understanding emotions, listening to each other, goal setting, and reflecting on progress at school;
Leading the Primary Crew learning expeditions through planning and delivering activities and experiences coherent with the learning expedition theme, the CLC curriculum, and school competency model;
Curating and creating learning plans for students to work on regarding academic areas of study including mathematics, language, and literature;
Creating conditions that enable children to have agency over their learning in a responsible and structured way;
Observing, assessing and recording each child's progress with a focus on planning for supporting the next steps of learning and development;
Finding and working with “experts” who enrich the learning experiences of children within the curriculum;
Providing support to children and providing them with a secure environment to learn;
Contributing to annual curriculum reviews, the continual improvement of CLC policies and procedures, and documentation of the growth of CLC;
Organizing, producing, and/or ordering learning materials and resources that deepen students learning;
Taking on responsibilities for organising and looking after communal areas in the school, including contributing to a school environment that highlights the students learning;
Communicating with families and contributing to the development and maintenance of meaningful partnerships between CLC and parents;
Attending meetings and training sessions as required;
Ensuring the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the learning center;
Being available to support the school with open days and community events;
Requisition and stock taking of teaching materials, consumables, and supplies;
Providing guidance and support for colleagues, including apprentice learning designers;
Seeking out and taking advantage of learning opportunities to become the best possible educator for CLC students.
